Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers, alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, erosive esophagitis, and maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence. It is also effective for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is indicated for the short-term treatment and prevention of upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is beneficial for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases and improvement of the health of the stomach and esophagus.
This medication must be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed with liquids such as water. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If treatment fails, an additional 4 weeks of dosing may be considered - Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence of esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily
Adolescents aged 12 and over - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If treatment fails, an additional 4 weeks of dosing may be considered - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis:
This medication should not be used in patients with known allergies or hypersensitivity to specific components. Additionally, caution is needed when used with certain antibiotics as it may cause hypersensitivity. Women who are breastfeeding or patients with a history of heart disease should also avoid taking this medication. This medication contains lactose, thus lactose-intolerant patients should abstain from taking it. Rarely, various side effects may occur, including blood-related, immune, metabolic, mental, neurological, gastrointestinal, liver, and skin reactions; if any abnormal symptoms occur, consult a physician immediately. Regular monitoring is important during prolonged use. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which may lead to bacterial overgrowth in the stomach and increase the risk of infections. Particularly, high-dose long-term use may increase fracture risk, so caution is required for patients with osteoporosis. Due to many drug interactions, it is essential to inform healthcare personnel of any other medications being taken. Caution is required during pregnancy, and it is safest to avoid taking the medication while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment should be based on symptoms. Store this medication out of reach of children and in its original container.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, shock, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, mental confusion, aggression, hallucinations, bronchospasm, microscopic colitis, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, encephalopathy, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Lyell's syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, eosinophilia with systemic symptoms, muscle weakness, allergic interstitial nephritis
