This medication is used to treat symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. It mainly improves symptoms such as memory decline and cognitive dysfunction and helps maintain the functionality of daily life.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 5 mg once daily before bedtime as Donepezil Hydrochloride. Donepezil concentration reaches a steady state after 15 days of administration, and the frequency of adverse reactions may be influenced by the dosage increase rate; therefore, maintain the 5 mg dose for 4-6 weeks. Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with allergies to specific components. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication for safety. Patients who are genetically lactose intolerant should be careful and avoid taking this medication. Patients with heart disease or problems with heart rhythm should use this medication cautiously, as bradycardia or arrhythmias may occur. Additionally, various side effects such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, insomnia, hallucinations, anxiety, and depression have been reported; if any unusual symptoms occur while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately. This medication is used in the treatment of dementia, and its therapeutic effects should be periodically evaluated; if no effect is observed, consideration should be given to discontinuation. Care is necessary when driving or operating machinery, especially when first taking or increasing dosage, as dizziness or fatigue may occur. This medication may interact with other drugs, especially when taken with heart-related medications, antibiotics, antidepressants, antipsychotics, anti-inflammatory analgesics, etc., so consulting a specialist is advised. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this medication, and if it must be taken, discontinuing breastfeeding is safer. Safety for children has not been established, so it is generally not recommended for use in children.
