Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with complete bile duct obstruction. Additionally, as it contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactose deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be exercised when using in patients with chronic active hepatitis, cirrhosis, hypokalemia, severe pancreatic disease, peptic ulcers, and gallstones. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as occasional diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur when taking this medication, and rarely abdominal pain, constipation, heartburn, and discomfort in the upper abdomen may be experienced. Allergic reactions such as itching or rash may occur, and although skin rashes may occasionally develop, they typically resolve with the use of antihistamines. Transient jaundice may develop but improves upon discontinuation of the medication or with the use of jaundice treatment agents. Rarely, symptoms such as generalized fatigue or dizziness may appear. In a study involving 640 patients with chronic persistent hepatitis over 6 years, adverse drug reactions were reported very rarely; however, serious side effects such as cirrhosis, ascites, and acute hepatitis C may also occur, warranting caution. It is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and regimen; if symptoms do not improve after 8 weeks of use or if unusual symptoms occur, it is important to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a physician or pharmacist. Keep out of reach of children in a safe location. Animal studies suggest that it may be harmful to the fetus, so it is advisable for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant to avoid using this medication. Additionally, care should be taken when using this medication in conjunction with oral antidiabetic agents, as it may enhance the effects of these diabetes medications.
