This medication contains α-lipoic acid and should not be used in patients who have allergic reactions to this ingredient or any excipients included in the drug. Moreover, there is insufficient clinical experience regarding the safety or efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents, hence it is advisable not to administer it to patients in this age group. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur rarely. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives, and itching may also appear rarely, and caution is advised. Additionally, this medication may lower blood sugar levels, which can result in hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances, necessitating careful blood sugar monitoring. Taste disturbances are also among the rarely reported side effects. Individuals who frequently consume alcohol may experience decreased therapeutic effects from this medication, and it is particularly advisable for patients with diabetic neuropathy to avoid alcohol consumption. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of a specific anticancer drug, cisplatin, so caution is required to avoid simultaneous use. Furthermore, taking it with medications containing iron or magnesium or calcium-rich milk may interfere with the absorption of the drug, so dosing times should be adjusted accordingly. When taken in conjunction with diabetes medications, the blood sugar-lowering effect may increase, so blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently, and dosages adjusted as needed. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously under medical advice, as its safety has not been fully established. In case of overdose, severe intoxication symptoms may occur, including confusion, convulsions, hypoglycemia, and multi-organ failure, necessitating immediate hospital visit for appropriate treatment. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees and should be kept in a safe place out of reach of children. Additionally, it should not be transferred to another container, and maintaining the original packaging is important for preserving the quality of the drug.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
