It also improves abdominal discomfort symptoms caused by irritable bowel syndrome or spastic colon. In children, it is used to relieve habitual vomiting and non-infectious bowel dysfunctions, namely constipation or diarrhea. Overall, this medication effectively controls symptoms of various gastrointestinal related diseases, enhancing the quality of life for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

For Trimebutine Maleate, take 100-200mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose. Therefore, individuals with genetic diseases that inhibit the digestion of lactose should not take this medicine. This drug contains an additive colorant, Yellow No. 4, which may cause allergic reactions or hypersensitivity, so patients should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking it. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as occasional constipation or diarrhea, abdominal gurgling, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, thirst, or a numb feeling in the mouth may occur. Rarely, symptoms such as palpitations, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache may occur as well. Caution is advised as liver function tests may rise. If allergic reactions such as skin rashes occur, discontinue use immediately. Pregnant women should use this medication only if deemed necessary under a physician's judgment as its safety has not been sufficiently established. Furthermore, breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and if it must be taken, it is safer to stop breastfeeding.
