Treatment of male pattern hair loss
This medication is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss, specifically androgenetic alopecia, in adult men. It helps to inhibit hair loss progression and supports healthy hair growth to enhance hair regrowth.
Generally, finasteride is administered orally at 1 mg once a day, and it can be taken regardless of meals. Generally, it takes 3 months or more to observe the therapeutic effect, and it is recommended to continue taking it to maintain the therapeutic effect. The treatment duration and efficacy should be evaluated continuously. Discontinuation of medication will result in the disappearance of the therapeutic effect within 12 months.
This medication should not be administered to children or women. Pregnant women and women who may become pregnant should avoid even touching broken pieces of this medication, as it may affect the development of external genitalia in male fetuses by inhibiting male hormone conversion. Mood changes such as depression or suicidal thoughts may occur during the use of this medication, so consult a healthcare professional immediately if any mental symptoms arise. Patients with liver dysfunction should exercise caution when using this medication. This medication may cause side effects related to sexual function, including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorders. If these symptoms occur, stop taking the medication and inform healthcare personnel. Pregnant women should not take or come into contact with this medication, particularly because it may affect male fetuses. This medication contains lactose; therefore, patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic conditions should not take it. Although no severe interactions with other medications have been reported, inform healthcare personnel if you are taking other medications. If changes or pain in the breasts, lumps, etc., occur during use, inform your doctor immediately, and note that this medication may affect PSA level tests, so caution is advised in interpretation. There is no specific antidote for overdose, but if symptoms occur, visit a medical institution immediately. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and changing storage containers is not advisable for quality maintenance. The efficacy of this medication in the elderly has not been established, but no dosage adjustment is necessary. Long-term use of this medication may result in persistent sexual dysfunction; however, most symptoms improve after discontinuation of the medication. It should be strictly avoided during pregnancy due to potential harm to the fetus, and breastfeeding women should also refrain from its use.
