Relief of joint and spinal disorders (such as osteoarthritis), acute pain, and primary dysmenorrhea
This medication is primarily used to relieve pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It also reduces acute pain that occurs post-surgery or post-extraction and is effective for pain relief due to primary dysmenorrhea. It effectively improves pain and inflammation associated with these conditions and symptoms.
The minimum recommended dose of this medicine should be adjusted for each patient. It may be taken with or without food. ○ Adults: 1. Osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis): Take 200 mg of celecoxib once daily, or 100 mg twice daily. 2. Rheumatoid arthritis: Take 100 mg or 200 mg of celecoxib per dose, twice daily. 3. Ankylosing spondylitis (AS): Administer 200 mg of celecoxib once daily, or 100 mg twice daily. If no effect is observed after 6 weeks, the dose may be increased to 400 mg per day. If no effect is observed after 6 weeks of treatment at 400 mg per day, another treatment should be considered. 4. Acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea: The recommended initial dose is 400 mg of celecoxib, with an additional 200 mg on the first day of treatment if needed. From the second day of treatment, the recommended dose is 200 mg per dose, twice daily as needed. ○ Patients with hepatic impairment: For patients with moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class II), the dose should be reduced to approximately 50% of the recommended daily dose.
This medication can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three drinks a day, so consulting a doctor or pharmacist is essential. Additionally, this medication can increase the risk of cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, so it should be taken at the minimum effective dose and for the shortest duration possible. If cardiovascular symptoms occur, medical attention should be sought immediately. It may also cause serious gastrointestinal issues such as gastric ulcer, bleeding, or perforation, so elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders should take particular care, and if symptoms like epigastric pain, indigestion, melena, or hematemesis arise, they should seek medical attention immediately. This medication should not be administered to individuals with specific allergy histories, severe liver or kidney impairment, active peptic ulcer, heart failure, or pregnant women; those with such conditions must consult a doctor. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, hypertension, heart failure, asthma, and elderly individuals should use this medication carefully, requiring regular blood tests and liver/kidney function tests during treatment. Headaches, dizziness, indigestion, vomiting, skin rash, hypertension, edema, and other side effects may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be discussed with a healthcare professional. This medication can interact with other drugs, particularly antihypertensives, anticoagulants, antidepressants, and diuretics, so it is necessary to inform the physician of any medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid this medication, and nursing mothers should consult a doctor as this medication can be transmitted through breast milk. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have decreased liver and kidney function; thus, careful observation and caution are needed when dosing, and lower doses should be initiated if the patient's weight is low. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during treatment, so driving or operating machinery is not advised. This medication does not affect platelet function and cannot be used as a substitute for aspirin in preventing cardiovascular disease. The risk of gastrointestinal side effects may increase when taken with aspirin. Patients taking this medication long-term should have regular blood tests and liver/kidney function tests. If unusual symptoms occur, they should stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal bleeding may appear, and prompt medical treatment should be sought. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided to maintain quality.
