How to take

Adult dose

As cilostazol, the usual dose for adults is 200mg orally once daily. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, avoiding meals.

Precautions

This medication may increase heart rate and induce angina symptoms, so it is essential to monitor for symptoms such as chest pain vigilantly. It should not be administered to patients with a risk of bleeding, those with a recent hemorrhagic stroke, peptic ulcers, heart failure, or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patients taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, women menstruating, patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function, and diabetics should be administered with caution. While taking this medication, side effects such as headaches, diarrhea, palpitations, joint pain, and chest discomfort may occur, and if severe bleeding or abnormal blood symptoms develop, administration should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication should be started after symptoms have stabilized in patients with cerebral infarction, and blood pressure should be monitored closely in patients requiring blood pressure control. Dizziness may occur, so caution is needed before driving or operating machinery. Taking this medication with food may increase blood concentration and the risk of side effects; therefore, it is recommended to take it on an empty stomach and maintain a 3-hour interval between meals and medication. As this medication is metabolized in the liver, blood concentration may increase when taken with drugs that inhibit liver metabolizing enzymes, requiring dose adjustment or caution. When used in conjunction with drugs that lower blood pressure or vasodilators, caution is required as hypotension or tachycardia may occur. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not use this medication, and breastfeeding mothers should discontinue both administration and breastfeeding. Safety in pediatric or neonatal patients has not been sufficiently established, so caution is required for use. Elderly patients may have reduced body function, necessitating careful dosage adjustment. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as headaches, diarrhea, hypotension, and tachycardia may occur, requiring immediate medical assistance.
