Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, have a history of hypersensitivity reactions like angioedema, have symptoms of orthostatic hypotension, have severe liver dysfunction, or are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severe renal dysfunction, elderly patients, patients taking PDE5 inhibitors (erectile dysfunction medications), patients taking certain liver enzyme (CYP3A4) inhibitors, and patients on blood pressure medication should use this drug cautiously. In particular, patients taking alpha-1 blockers generally should not use this medication, but may do so with caution when absolutely necessary, and patients with a history of urination syncope should also be careful. While taking this medication, severe side effects such as syncope or loss of consciousness may occur, so it is important to monitor the condition closely. Various side effects like dizziness, headache, drowsiness, blood pressure drop, irregular heartbeats, rash, itching, nausea, vomiting, and liver dysfunction may occur, and symptoms should be reported immediately if they arise. In case of overdose, blood pressure can drop significantly, so the dosage must be followed accurately, and one should move slowly as blood pressure may decrease upon standing. This medication does not treat the cause but alleviates symptoms, so if there is no effect, alternative treatment methods should be considered. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur, leading to caution when driving or performing hazardous activities. Additionally, as this medication is an alpha-1 blocker, it may rarely cause priapism, and if related symptoms arise, one should inform a doctor immediately. This medication may cause intraoperative floppy iris syndrome during cataract or glaucoma surgery, so it should be reported to medical personnel before any ophthalmic surgery. Patients with sulfamide (sulfonamide) allergies should also use caution. When used with other blood pressure medications or PDE5 inhibitors, it may exacerbate blood pressure reduction, so it must be discussed with a doctor. When combined with medications that inhibit specific liver metabolic enzymes, the serum concentration of this medication may increase, requiring caution. This medication is not used for women or children, and elderly patients should start with a lower dose considering their renal function and gradually increase it. When taking the medication, it should be removed from the PTP packaging and taken whole; it should not be chewed or crushed. Particularly, it should not be taken while lying down or without water. Finally, it should be kept out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
