This medication is used for patients who need to take telmisartan and rosuvastatin together. Telmisartan primarily helps treat essential hypertension and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is particularly used in high-risk groups such as those over 55 years old with heart diseases, strokes, or end-organ damage due to diabetes to lower the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality from cardiovascular diseases. Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct treatment when dietary management for hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia is insufficient. It also helps delay the progression of atherosclerosis due to hypercholesterolemia and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, strokes, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization procedures. Therefore, this medication is used to manage both hypertension and hyperlipidemia simultaneously to improve cardiovascular health.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be given to individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication, to pregnant or breastfeeding women, and to fertile women who are not using proper contraceptive methods. Patients with severely impaired liver function, those with biliary obstruction or cholestasis, unexplained increases in liver enzyme levels, and patients with muscle disease should not use this medication. Use is also prohibited in patients with very poor kidney function or when combined with certain medications. Caution should be exercised in elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, and patients with mild to moderate liver impairment; liver function and muscle status should be periodically monitored during treatment. This medication may cause serious muscle disorders such as muscle pain, myopathy, and, rarely, rhabdomyolysis, so consult a doctor immediately if muscle pain or weakness occurs. As a blood pressure-lowering agent, it may cause hypotension, dizziness, fainting, etc., especially during the initial administration, so caution is required. Various side effects such as liver dysfunction, hyperkalemia, and worsening kidney function may occur, making regular blood tests and clinical observation important.
