View approved original text

This medication helps effectively regulate cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Specifically, it lowers the levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides, while increasing the levels of HDL cholesterol, known as 'good' cholesterol. Such effects play an important role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases when used as an adjunct to dietary therapy. This medication will assist patients in improving their blood lipid status and maintaining their health. It is used for individuals who wish to safely and effectively manage dyslipidemia.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. It should not be used in patients who are allergic to any component of this medication, patients with liver function issues or severe liver diseases, and those with bile flow obstruction. Additionally, it should not be given to patients taking cyclosporine, patients with myopathy, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children. Patients with renal dysfunction or a history of liver disorders, those excessively consuming alcohol, and those taking certain medications should use this medication cautiously. In particular, caution is necessary when taken with fibrate agents or niacin, as there is a higher risk of muscle damage and renal function deterioration. During the use of this medication, abnormal symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, rash, and itching may occur. Liver function abnormalities, abnormal blood test results, and rarely, severe muscle damage known as rhabdomyolysis may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be immediately discussed with a physician. As this medication is mainly metabolized in the liver, regular liver function tests should be conducted, and if liver function worsens, the medication should be discontinued. Moreover, treatment should be stopped, and a physician should be consulted if symptoms such as muscle pain or muscle weakness appear. This medication should not be administered to pregnant or nursing women, and women of childbearing potential must confirm pregnancy status before taking it. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is important to notify your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. Particular caution is required when taken in combination with cyclosporine, fibrate drugs, niacin, and erythromycin. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to reduced body function, so dosage adjustments and caution are necessary. This medication has not been established for safety and efficacy in children, and therefore should not be used in this population. Lastly, this medication should be stored in its original container and kept out of reach of children, as transferring it to another container may pose risks of accidents or quality deterioration.
