This medication is used as an adjunct to diet for lowering total cholesterol, bad LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides while raising good HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, as well as mixed hyperlipidemia. In homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia patients, it is administered when other treatments are ineffective or as an adjunct therapy. This medication should be used in conjunction with an appropriate diet and should be administered with caution while considering other health conditions and risk factors. Additionally, it is important to verify and treat any secondary causes such as diabetes or hypothyroidism before starting this medication. Accurate assessment of cholesterol and lipid levels is necessary for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. This medication effectively treats hypercholesterolemia and improves vascular health.
