  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension in cases where blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil. It helps to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It contributes to reducing the likelihood of complications from hypertension and improving overall heart health. Therefore, it is a suitable treatment option for patients with difficult-to-control blood pressure.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients who are allergic to the active ingredients or similar class drugs, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, patients with severe liver or aortic valve disease, patients with biliary obstruction, patients undergoing kidney dialysis, patients in shock, specific diabetic patients, and patients with severely impaired kidney function should not use this medication. It should be used with caution in patients with dehydration or low sodium levels, as hypotension may occur, and should be carefully administered to patients at risk of rapid blood pressure drop due to vasodilation, patients with coronary artery disease, patients with congestive heart failure, patients with weakened kidney function, and patients with impaired liver function. During use, side effects such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, lowered blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, rash, and swelling may occur, so if symptoms are severe, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Although different from beta-blockers, this medication may interact with other blood pressure medications or specific drugs, so all medications being taken should be disclosed to the physician. During pregnancy, it may pose a risk to the fetus, so it is recommended to use safer alternative medications if planning to become pregnant or if already pregnant. If breastfeeding, as this medication can be transferred through breast milk and affect the baby, its use should be considered carefully. It is advisable not to use in children under 18 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney and liver function, so it is recommended to start with a low dose and carefully monitor their condition. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and impaired heart function may occur, requiring immediate medical attention and continuous monitoring of blood pressure and heart status. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in a cool place, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture.
