Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This medication is to be taken orally once a day at a consistent time each day. If necessary, it can be administered twice a day. The maximum dose is 20mg daily, increasing by 5mg weekly for the first three weeks. - First week (days 1-7): 5mg once daily - Second week (days 8-14): 10mg once daily - Third week (days 15-21): 15mg once daily - Fourth week
This medication should not be used in patients who have an allergy to any of its components. It should also not be administered to patients with very poor liver function or severely impaired kidney function. Patients with a history of seizures or those who are prone to seizures should use this medication cautiously. Co-administration with certain other medications may exacerbate central nervous system side effects, so combination should be avoided. Patients with changes in urine acidity should be carefully observed, as this may affect the excretion of this medication. Patients with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension should exercise caution when using this medication. During the use of this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is necessary. Neurological symptoms such as mental confusion, hallucinations, and seizures have also been reported, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are taking any other medications, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this medication, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding if nursing.
