This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension and myocardial ischemia due to stable angina or variant angina. It also helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients who have coronary artery disease confirmed by recent angiography but do not have heart failure or decreased cardiac output, and decreases the risks associated with coronary artery revascularization. Therefore, this medication is effective for the prevention and treatment of heart-related vascular issues.

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this drug or similar medications, nursing women, patients with severe liver dysfunction, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock should not take this medication. Caution is also warranted for patients with severe hypotension, patients requiring dialysis for renal failure, elderly patients, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Various side effects may occur while taking this medication. Rarely, low blood pressure, vasculitis, neurological symptoms, digestive disturbances, weight changes, skin rashes, and liver function abnormalities may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be promptly discussed with a doctor. Patients with heart failure should be cautious as long-term use of this medication may increase fluid retention in the lungs. Patients with reduced liver function may require dosage adjustments due to prolonged half-life of the medication, and the antihypertensive effect may take time to manifest, making it unsuitable for emergency treatment. This medication is known not to significantly affect driving or machine operation abilities, but caution should be exercised as this may vary between individuals. This medication may interact with various other drugs. It is recommended to avoid concomitant use with grapefruit juice as this may excessively enhance the antihypertensive effects. Additionally, caution should be exercised when used with specific antibiotics, antihypertensives, and immunosuppressants, and close monitoring according to a doctor's instructions is necessary. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, so it should be used only when no other safe medications are available or when the condition is severe, and it is recommended that nursing women discontinue breastfeeding if they take this medication. For pediatric patients, the antihypertensive effect has been confirmed in those aged 6 years and older, but its efficacy is not known in those younger than 6 years. In the case of overdose, severe hypotension and cardiac arrhythmias may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought, with emergency treatment such as gastric lavage or administration of activated charcoal if necessary. Long-term use of this medication has not been reported to cause carcinogenic or mutagenic potential, and it is generally well tolerated. However, it is important to consult with a specialist if side effects or unusual symptoms occur.
