This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and is administered additionally to patients whose blood pressure cannot be adequately controlled with Telmisartan alone. This helps lower blood pressure effectively and aids in the prevention of complications related to hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan alone, take this medication once daily with water, regardless of meals. - The Telmisartan/Hydroklorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg can be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately managed with 40 mg of Telmisartan. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg can be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 80 mg of Telmisartan.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious risks to the fetus during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters; therefore, its use should be avoided during pregnancy. This medication is prohibited for patients with allergies to its components or with specific liver or kidney diseases. Elderly patients or those with heart, liver, or kidney diseases should use this medication with greater caution. This medication lowers blood pressure and may occasionally cause dizziness or hypotensive symptoms, so take care when driving or operating machinery. The Hydrochlorothiazide component can cause electrolyte imbalances; therefore, electrolyte levels should be regularly monitored through blood tests during treatment. Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, angioedema (potentially fatal), angioedema, exacerbation or activation of systemic lupus erythematosus, anaphylactic reactions, hypersensitivity, liver function abnormalities/hepatic impairment, hepatocellular jaundice, cholestatic jaundice, acute angle-closure glaucoma, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), pulmonary edema, sepsis (including potentially fatal outcomes), alongside blood pressure elevation.

Mild side effects

Hypokalemia, hyperuricemia, hyponatremia, anxiety, depression, dizziness, insomnia, sleep disturbances, visual disturbances, temporary blurred vision, vertigo, tachycardia, arrhythmia, hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, diarrhea, dry mouth, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia, vomiting, gastritis, liver function abnormalities/hepatic impairment, erythema, pruritus, rash, increased sweating, urticaria, low back pain, muscle cramps, myalgia, arthralgia, limb pain, fracture.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air and moisture. It is best to maintain a storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature to preserve the medication's efficacy for a longer period.
