Precautions

This drug is an amide-type local anesthetic and should not be used in patients who are allergic to this drug or similar medications. Caution should be exercised when used in areas with wounds or infections, as well as in patients with epilepsy, cardiac conduction abnormalities, poor liver function, or those in severe shock. This drug contains propylene glycol, thus patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this ingredient should also exercise caution. While using, symptoms of shock may occur, such as low blood pressure, facial pallor, abnormal pulse, or respiratory depression; if such symptoms arise, the drug should be immediately discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Central nervous system side effects such as tremors and convulsions may also occur, and if symptoms arise, use should be stopped immediately, and professional treatment should be obtained. Symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting may occur, so careful observation is necessary. Cardiac function may be suppressed, leading to bradycardia or cardiac arrest, so individuals with heart disease should be especially cautious. Allergic reactions such as hives or edema on the skin may appear, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported. It is advisable to prepare for emergency situations in case immediate first aid is needed while using this drug. To prevent side effects, closely monitor the patient's condition and use the minimum effective dose; for surface anesthesia in the airways, it is safer to use only a small amount due to rapid absorption. When used in the mouth, caution must be exercised as swallowing ability may be impaired, posing a risk of food entering the airways, especially in children. When the tongue or oral mucosa is anesthetized, care is needed to avoid chewing or biting injuries. During endotracheal intubation, take care to prevent this drug from entering the intubation tube and to avoid blockage issues. Be cautious not to administer excessively into the rectum, especially as central nervous system side effects may occur in children, so extra attention is necessary. When used with antiarrhythmic drugs, side effects may be aggravated; consult a physician or pharmacist. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, and it should only be used cautiously when necessary; while it is reported that there is no significant risk to the baby during breastfeeding at therapeutic doses, caution is still advised.
