This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is especially helpful in effectively controlling blood pressure in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan alone.

How to take

Adult dose

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan alone, take this medication once daily with or without food, along with a drink. It is recommended to adjust the dose for each component depending on the individual. When clinically appropriate, this medication may be directly switched from monotherapy to this combination treatment.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious side effects to the fetus if used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients or additives in this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with severe liver or kidney disease should not take this medication. Caution should be exercised in elderly patients or those with high potassium levels or liver dysfunction, as well as patients with valvular heart disease or ischemic heart disease. The hydrochlorothiazide component can affect the body's fluid and electrolyte balance, which may lead to electrolyte abnormalities, so regular blood tests are necessary. During treatment with this medication, symptoms such as dizziness, hypotension, muscle cramps, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and if there are any unusual symptoms, medical consultation should be sought immediately. In particular, this medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so it is important to disclose any other medications being taken. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness while driving or operating machinery, so caution is required. Women planning to become pregnant or of childbearing age are advised to switch to other antihypertensive medications that have been confirmed to be safe instead of this medication. This medication has not been established to be safe and effective for children, therefore it is recommended not to use it in this population.
