Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (such as erosive esophagitis), eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection (such as duodenal ulcers), and relief of gastrointestinal symptoms and treatment/prevention of ulcers related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly erosive reflux esophagitis, and to prevent recurrence. It is also effective in treating and preventing recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers accompanied by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is used for the treatment and prevention of upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is applicable for maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and gastric/duodenal ulcers. Overall, it plays an important role in the treatment and recurrence prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - If necessary, once daily, 1 dose
Adolescents aged 12 years and older - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - Symptoms
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its components or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to similar medications in the past should not receive this treatment. Particular caution is required for patients who are allergic to penicillin antibiotics or macrolide antibiotics when used together with this medication. Additionally, patients taking certain heart-related medications or with a history of myocardial infarction, as well as nursing women, should not use this medication. Various adverse reactions may occur while taking this medication, so symptoms should be carefully monitored. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting can occur, as well as skin rashes, itching, and rarely severe skin reactions. Blood abnormalities, neurological issues, and electrolyte imbalances such as hypomagnesemia may also occur, necessitating regular testing. Long-term use has been reported to increase the risk of fractures, so patients with osteoporosis should use it cautiously. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if any other medications are being taken, consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is crucial. Caution is also warranted when used with antiviral drugs, antibiotics, anticoagulants, as it may change drug concentrations and increase the risk of side effects. It should be used cautiously during pregnancy due to insufficient safety confirmation, and it is advisable not to use it while breastfeeding. There is no specific antidote for overdose; appropriate treatment should be administered according to symptoms, and it should be kept out of reach of children. It is advisable to avoid transferring the medication to another container as it may lead to deterioration in quality or risk of accidents.
