This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, erosive reflux esophagitis and to alleviate symptoms. It also helps treat duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and prevent their recurrence. It's effective for treating and preventing upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is also applied for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is used as maintenance therapy after prevention of rebleeding from gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it is used for the treatment and prevention of complex gastrointestinal disorders.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Individuals who are allergic to this drug, its ingredients, or similar drugs, or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions should avoid taking it. Also, those allergic to certain antibiotics used in combination to eradicate Helicobacter pylori should not use this medication. Patients taking specific cardiac-related medications or with a history of myocardial infarction, as well as nursing women, should also refrain from taking this drug. This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 4, and individuals allergic to this component should use it with caution. While taking this medication, various side effects may occur. For example, reductions in blood cell counts, allergic reactions, edema, insomnia, headaches, dizziness, abdominal pain, nausea, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, muscle pain, and other symptoms have been reported. Rarely, serious side effects such as severe skin reactions or muscle damage may occur, and if symptoms appear, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is required. If taking this medication for a long time, regular examinations are necessary, and it should be administered after accurate diagnosis when gastrointestinal tumors are suspected. Additionally, this drug reduces gastric acid secretion, resulting in an increased risk of bacterial overgrowth in the gastrointestinal tract, so if diarrhea persists, healthcare personnel should be informed. This medication can interact with other drugs, so if there are any other medications being taken, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist. In particular, caution is needed when used concurrently with certain antivirals, antibiotics, and anticoagulants. During pregnancy, the safety of this medication has not been sufficiently established, so it should only be used cautiously when necessary, and it is better to avoid it while nursing. There is no specific antidote in case of overdose, hence treatment should be symptomatic. Store this medication out of reach of children, and it is safer not to transfer it to another container.

Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction, shock, jaundice, liver failure, mucocutaneous eruption syndrome, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Lyell syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), seizures, convulsions, altered consciousness, myocardial infarction, deep vein thrombosis, QT prolongation, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, Torsades de pointes, severe allergic reactions
