Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency due to absorption disorders
This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in adults at high risk for vitamin D deficiency due to absorption disorders.
Administer 300,000 IU of cholecalciferol by intramuscular injection. The annual dosage should not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.
This medication should be taken with care to avoid excessive intake of vitamin D; total vitamin D content should be checked when taking other treatments or fortified foods containing vitamin D. Blood calcium levels should be monitored regularly, and the use of this medication should be discontinued if levels exceed the normal range. In cases of high calcium intake, it is important to continuously monitor the levels of calcium in blood and urine. This medication should not be used by individuals who have allergies to its components or those with hypercalcemia, kidney stones, or renal impairment. It is also safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid using this medication. Various side effects such as headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive disturbances, changes in urine volume, increased blood pressure, and kidney issues may occur when taking this medication; immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary if any abnormal symptoms arise. Regular monitoring of blood vitamin D levels and parathyroid hormone levels is important to prevent side effects from overdose. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function should have serum creatinine levels checked regularly, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Caution is required when taking this medication with others that may interact, such as anticonvulsants, diuretics, antacids, and warfarin. Do not mix this medication with others, use it quickly after opening, and dispose of any remaining medication.
Kidney impairment
Headache, weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, growth retardation, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, polydipsia, polyuria, dehydration, hypertension, calcium stones, calcification of kidneys and vascular tissues, kidney impairment, excessive bone calcification, arrhythmia, mental symptoms, sensory disturbances, joint pain, myasthenia, drowsiness, azotemia, hypersensitivity reactions, thirst, confusion, abdominal gas, abdominal pain, metallic taste, dry mouth, rash, itching, hypercalcemia

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air ingress and kept in a dark place to avoid light exposure. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
