Adult dose

Adults: Administer 0.2 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride orally once daily after a meal. This medicine must be swallowed whole and must not be crushed or chewed. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medicine should not be administered to certain patients. First, patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not take it. Patients with orthostatic hypotension may worsen their symptoms if administered this drug, so it is advisable to avoid its use. In cases of severely impaired liver function, care must be taken as the blood concentration of the drug may increase. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take this drug. Patients with severe kidney impairment, elderly patients, those taking PDE5 inhibitors or CYP3A4 inhibitors, and patients taking antihypertensives should use this medication cautiously. In particular, patients already taking alpha1 blockers should generally avoid this medication but may take it with caution if absolutely necessary. Patients with a history of urinary syncope should also be watched closely. While taking this medication, symptoms of low blood pressure such as syncope or transient loss of consciousness may occur, so it is important to monitor for these symptoms. Neurological symptoms such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and insomnia may also occur, and caution is advised. Cardiac symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, and arrhythmias may appear. If allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or hives occur, discontinue use immediately. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. If liver dysfunction or jaundice symptoms develop, discontinuation of this drug is necessary, and appropriate treatment should be sought. This medication may cause low blood pressure from overdose, so the prescribed dosage must be followed carefully. Blood pressure may drop upon standing, so caution is advised when changing positions. This medication is a symptom-relieving treatment, and if it does not work, other treatment options should be considered. Caution is also required when driving or performing hazardous tasks due to dizziness. This drug requires caution in patients with specific allergic histories, and it is important to inform the doctor prior to eye surgery because complications related to vision may arise during surgery. When taken with other antihypertensives or PDE5 inhibitors, this drug may cause blood pressure to drop too low, so caution is necessary. In particular, interactions with certain antifungals, antibiotics, and other medications may occur, and it is important to consult with a doctor or pharmacist. It is advisable for pregnant women or children under 18 years of age not to take this medication, as its safety has not been established. Elderly patients should start at a lower dose considering kidney function and adjust according to their condition. When taking this medication, do not crush or chew the tablet, and always use it as directed. Keep it out of reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.
