Improvement of essential hypertension and heart failure (left ventricular dysfunction)
This medication is primarily used to treat essential hypertension. It is also used as an add-on therapy when mono therapy with ACE inhibitors is inadequate or poorly tolerated in patients with heart failure and impaired left ventricular systolic function. Through these effects, it helps stabilize blood pressure and manage symptoms of heart failure.
Essential hypertension in adults: The recommended initial and maintenance dose is 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil, administered orally once daily. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks of treatment at 16 mg once daily, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. Heart failure in adults: The recommended initial dose is 4 mg once daily. The dose may be doubled at intervals of at least 2 weeks, considering the patient's tolerance.
The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Particularly in heart failure patients, side effects such as hypotension, hyperkalemia, and renal function impairment may occur, thus regular blood tests and monitoring are necessary. This medication may significantly lower blood pressure; if symptoms of sudden drops in blood pressure, fainting, or loss of consciousness occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is required. When used with other antihypertensive medications or diuretics, caution is needed due to increased risk of side effects from interactions. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing women are also advised to avoid it. Safety in children or adolescents under 18 years of age has not been established, and use is not recommended.
