Precautions

This drug can cause severe injury or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It is contraindicated for those allergic to any components of this medication or similar drugs, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, those with severe liver or heart disease, patients with bile duct obstruction, patients undergoing renal dialysis, individuals in a state of shock, and certain diabetic patients. Those with insufficient body fluids or salts should be cautious as hypotension may occur, and there is also a risk of sudden blood vessel dilation leading to a drop in blood pressure. Patients with heart disease or impaired kidney function must be closely monitored while taking this medication, as blood pressure may sometimes drop too low or kidney function may worsen. When taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, indigestion, skin rash, and edema may occur, so any abnormal symptoms should be consulted with a healthcare professional. Particularly, this medication may raise potassium levels in the blood, so when taken with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics, blood potassium levels should be monitored carefully. Avoid taking it with grapefruit juice, as it may excessively enhance blood pressure lowering effects. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are advised to choose alternative treatments with established safety rather than this medication. Breastfeeding women should discontinue breastfeeding or stop taking this medication since it may be transmitted in breast milk and affect the baby. It is recommended not to use this medication in children under 18 years old as the safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients should start with a low dose, as renal and liver function may be reduced, leading to higher drug concentrations in the body, and their condition should be closely observed. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop severely; therefore, notify healthcare professionals immediately for appropriate treatment. Store this medication in a tightly closed container, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight, out of reach of children.
