Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with known allergies to its components. It is also advisable not to administer it to patients with significantly impaired liver function or severely compromised kidney function. Patients with a history of seizures or convulsions, or those at high risk of seizures, should be particularly cautious when using this medication. Additionally, concomitant use with certain drugs such as amantadine, ketamine, or dextromethorphan may exacerbate side effects and should be avoided. Careful monitoring should be conducted in situations where the acidity of urine may change, such as with rapid dietary changes or specific urinary tract infections. Due to a lack of safety data in patients who recently suffered heart attacks, congestive heart failure, or uncontrolled hypertension, this drug should be administered with caution in these patients. When taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headaches, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur, thus it’s essential to consult a physician if symptoms worsen. Also, rare neurological symptoms such as mental confusion, hallucinations, and seizures may arise, so caution is advised. This drug may interact with other medications, so especially when taken alongside NMDA antagonists, skeletal muscle relaxants, antipsychotics, or anticoagulants, it should only be used under medical guidance. Co-administration with certain drugs may change the concentration of this medication in the blood and increase the risk of side effects. Pregnant women should exercise caution when taking this medication due to the potential risk to the fetus, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding while on this medication. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children or adolescents under 18 years of age, so its use is not advisable in these populations. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms may occur, and immediate medical attention is necessary. No specific antidote is available for overdose, so appropriate treatment is essential for symptomatic management. This medication may affect the speed of reaction and concentration of the patient; therefore, caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. When storing, keep it in a safe place out of reach of children, and it is beneficial to store it in its original packaging to maintain the quality of the medication.
