This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve sufficient blood pressure control with monotherapy of either amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil. This helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and improve the patient's health.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, one tablet, with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The maximum blood pressure-lowering effect occurs within two weeks after administration, so the dosage should be adjusted at intervals of more than two weeks. The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 mg: Amlodipine 5 mg or olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg monotherapy when blood pressure is inadequately controlled.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used by patients with allergies to any of its components, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe liver disease or certain heart conditions, patients undergoing renal dialysis, those in shock, and some diabetic patients. Patients with a lack of bodily fluids or salts may experience low blood pressure, so it is essential to closely monitor their condition when starting treatment, and appropriate measures should be taken if hypotension occurs. Patients with heart or vascular problems should exercise particular caution as rapid vascular dilation may lead to hypotension. It should be used cautiously in patients with heart failure or impaired kidney function, and those with decreased liver function should also be cautious while on this medication. Adverse reactions such as dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, indigestion, skin rashes, etc., may occur during treatment, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a physician. This medication can interact with various other drugs, so it is crucial to inform your physician of any medications currently being taken, especially grapefruit juice, which is not recommended to be taken with this drug. It should be avoided during pregnancy, and breastfeeding mothers should consider stopping breastfeeding or the medication as it may be transmitted through breast milk. It is not recommended for children under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may have impaired liver, kidney, or heart function, so starting with lower doses and closely monitoring their condition is advised. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, vascular dilation, tachycardia, etc., may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. This medication should be stored away from moisture, heat, and light, in a place inaccessible to children, and transferring it to a different container is not recommended.
