Adjunctive treatment of hypertension and heart failure, improvement of hypercholesterolemia, and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medication is used as an alternative treatment for patients taking both nebivolol and rosuvastatin. Nebivolol primarily helps in the treatment of essential hypertension and mild to moderate heart failure in elderly patients aged 70 years and older. Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunctive treatment when dietary changes and exercise are insufficient to control primary hypercholesterolemia, combined hyperlipidemia, or familial hypercholesterolemia. Additionally, it helps to lower blood cholesterol levels, slowing the progression of atherosclerosis and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. In particular, it is effective in high-risk patients with elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels and additional cardiovascular risk factors in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and the need for vascular revascularization. Thus, this medication is used to improve cardiovascular health by managing blood pressure and blood lipids.
This medication is prescribed for patients taking nebivolol and rosuvastatin simultaneously for convenience. The patient will switch to this combination medication (containing the same dosages of nebivolol and rosuvastatin as individual medications) and take one tablet once daily.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients, such as those with allergies to its components, those with severely impaired liver function, patients with bradycardia, severe heart failure, hypotension, or those with cardiac conduction disorders, as it may pose risks. Additionally, it should not be administered or used with extreme caution in pregnant or nursing women, or in women of childbearing potential who are not using appropriate contraceptive measures. High-dose administration is contraindicated for patients with a history of muscle diseases or a high risk of muscle damage. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance should not take it. There are also patients who require careful administration, such as those with chronic lung disease, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, thyroid abnormalities, and diabetes mellitus; these patients should be closely monitored while taking this medication. If symptoms such as muscle pain or muscle weakness occur, medical personnel should be notified immediately, and blood tests should be performed to check for muscle damage if necessary. This medication can affect the liver and muscles; therefore, regular liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be conducted before and during administration. This medication can interact with multiple drugs, so if other medications are being taken, it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals. Particular caution is needed when used concomitantly with certain antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants. During pregnancy or lactation, this medication should be avoided as it may be harmful to the fetus or newborn. Women of childbearing potential should use appropriate contraceptive methods. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years old, as safety and efficacy have not been established. For elderly patients, it should be started at a low dose and administered while closely monitoring their condition to avoid excessive blood pressure reduction. In case of overdose, symptoms such as reduced heart rate, hypotension, and respiratory distress may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment. This medication may cause dizziness during driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent misuse or quality deterioration.
