Precautions

This medication should be used with caution in patients with a history of herpetic keratitis, as sufficient studies have not been conducted. The effect of increased tear production has not been observed in patients using topical anti-inflammatory drugs or punctal plugs. It should not be used in patients with active ocular infections or known hypersensitivity to any components of this medication. The most common side effect upon use may include a burning sensation in the eyes; other reported side effects include conjunctival hyperemia, discharge, tearing, eye pain, foreign body sensation, itching, pain, and visual disturbances. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as eye swelling, severe angioedema, facial and tongue swelling, pharyngeal edema, and respiratory distress may occur, so caution is needed. This medication contains phosphates and may rarely cause corneal calcification in patients with severe corneal damage. It is intended for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to prevent the tip of the container from contacting the eyes to avoid injury. There is insufficient safety data during pregnancy, so it should be used cautiously only when clearly needed, and caution is needed during breastfeeding. Safety and effectiveness in children under 16 years of age have not been established, so it is advisable not to use it. The product should be used immediately after opening, and any remaining liquid and the container should be discarded, ensuring the tip of the container does not contact the eyes or the outside to avoid contamination. If wearing contact lenses, they should be removed before use, and contacts can be reinserted 15 minutes after application. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children. While carcinogenic studies show a risk of certain cancers at high doses, this is not significantly different from typical dosages of this medication. No specific abnormalities were found in mutagenicity and genotoxicity tests, and there are no reports of infertility.
