Improvement of voiding disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia
This medication is used to improve urination disorders caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia, such as difficulty urinating and the sensation of incomplete bladder emptying.
In adults, initiate naftopidil at 25 mg once daily. If the effect is insufficient, gradually increase the dose to 50~75mg at intervals of 1~2 weeks, and administer orally once daily after a meal. Adjust the dose appropriately according to symptoms, but the maximum daily dose is 75mg.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to its components or have a genetic lactase deficiency. It should be used with caution in patients with poor liver function or severe heart disease or cerebrovascular disorders, particularly in the elderly, as the medication may not be effectively excreted from the body due to decreased liver function. Patients taking other medications that lower blood pressure should be cautious, as there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low when taken with this medication. Dizziness, vertigo, and hypotension may occur during treatment; therefore, special caution is needed when working from heights or driving, particularly when first taking the medication or when dosage increases suddenly. If severe side effects such as liver dysfunction, jaundice, or loss of consciousness occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a physician should be consulted. Skin rashes, itching, headaches, drowsiness, dyspepsia, and low blood pressure may occur during treatment, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to medical personnel. Overdosing on this medication may lead to excessively low blood pressure; therefore, it is important to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage. Store out of reach of children, and when taking the medication, retrieve it from the packaging and swallow it, avoiding chewing or swallowing the packaging. Patients taking this medication may experience interactions with other drugs such as antihypertensives, diuretics, or PDE5 inhibitors; therefore, they must inform their healthcare providers about other medications they are taking. Elderly patients should be closely monitored due to the likelihood of decreased liver function, and any unusual symptoms should be promptly reported.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in a container that does not allow light to enter. It is also best kept at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer time.
