This medication is effective in alleviating symptoms such as gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting caused by gastric duodenitis and ulcers. It also helps improve abdominal pain and discomfort due to irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is used to manage symptoms of habitual vomiting and constipation and diarrhea caused by non-infectious intestinal motility disorders. Overall, this drug is useful for improving various functional abnormalities of the digestive system.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults should take 100-200 mg of trimebutine maleate orally 3 times a day before meals. Dosage may be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so individuals with hereditary problems such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and oral numbness may rarely occur. Rarely, tachycardia symptoms may occur, hence caution is advised. Psychoneurological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache may also occur rarely. Liver function test values, GOT and GPT, may increase, so liver health should be monitored. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash may occur, and if these symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully established; therefore, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take it if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Lactating women should also avoid this medication if possible, and if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
