This medication is effective in controlling blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension and is used as an alternative treatment, particularly when ACE inhibitors cannot be used. Moreover, it helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular mortality in patients over 55 with a high risk of cardiovascular events, including those with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, transient ischemic attack, or high-risk diabetes. This efficacy improves patients' cardiovascular health and lowers the likelihood of complications.
