This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it reduces the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with risk factors for coronary artery disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, it decreases the risk of hospitalization due to vascular interventions, angina, and congestive heart failure. For hyperlipidemic patients, it effectively lowers total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. Due to these actions, it is used as an adjunct in the treatment of mixed dyslipidemia and familial hypercholesterolemia. Therefore, it is effectively used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the improvement of hyperlipidemia.
