This medication is effective for the treatment and symptom relief of erosive esophagitis related to gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also used for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It helps in the treatment and prevention of upper gastrointestinal symptoms and ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is applied for prophylactic maintenance therapy in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and to prevent rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers, thereby improving symptoms. This medication is widely used in the treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders.

Dosage and Administration

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this medication or its ingredients, patients allergic to certain antibiotics, patients taking specific heart-related medications, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should not take this medication. This medication contains a pigment called Yellow No. 5, so patients allergic or hypersensitive to this pigment should use it with caution. Various adverse reactions may occur during administration. Common symptoms include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea, while rare side effects may include blood abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and myalgia. If symptoms such as myalgia or weakness appear, consult a doctor immediately. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of gastrointestinal infections due to bacterial overgrowth in the stomach and may also increase the risk of fractures, so regular check-ups are necessary during long-term use. Furthermore, this medication may interact with other medications, so especially when taking antibiotics, anticoagulants, antiviral agents, anticonvulsants, etc., consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. The safety of this medication during pregnancy is not fully established, so it should be used cautiously only when necessary, and it is advisable not to take it while breastfeeding. Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction, shock, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in mouth/eyes, bronchospasm, difficulty breathing, respiratory distress, systemic lupus erythematosus, cutaneous lupus erythematosus.
