This medication improves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia and reduces the size of the enlarged prostate, facilitating urine flow. It also decreases the frequency of acute urinary retention, alleviating patient discomfort. This reduces the likelihood of needing surgery such as prostatectomy. Overall, it is used effectively in the treatment of prostate-related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

As finasteride, administer 5 mg orally once daily, with or without food. Even if symptoms improve after administration, treatment should continue for at least 6 months.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in children or women. In particular, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should be cautious to avoid direct contact with any broken pieces of this medication. This medication may cause mental side effects, such as mood changes or depression; therefore, if you experience feelings of depression or any abnormal symptoms during treatment, you should consult a healthcare professional immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, lactose intolerance, or allergies to soybean oil, soy, or peanuts should avoid using this medication.
