This medication is effective for painful muscle spasms accompanying musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-arm syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It is also used for spastic paralysis due to neurological disorders, helping to improve symptoms of various neurological conditions, including cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spondylosis, post-surgical sequelae, trauma sequelae, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and cerebral palsy. This drug helps relieve pain and muscle stiffness, improving the quality of life of patients.

How to take

Adult dose

Administered orally as 50mg of Eperisone Hydrochloride three times a day after meals. Dosage may be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to patients who are allergic to this drug or those suffering from myasthenia gravis. Furthermore, patients with genetic lactose intolerance or lactase deficiency, or issues such as glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. Care should be taken when using this medication in patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or liver dysfunction. Particular caution is required for these patients as liver function may worsen. Rarely, shock may occur during the use of this medication, so if any abnormal symptoms appear, the administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Regular monitoring is needed as liver enzyme levels may rise or kidney function may be impaired. Hypersensitivity reactions such as anemia, skin rashes, and itching may occur, and central nervous system effects include insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, numbness in hands and feet, stiffness, or tremors. Gastrointestinal issues may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation, so caution is advised. Urological symptoms such as difficulty urinating, urinary incontinence, and the feeling of incomplete bladder emptying may occur. Systemically, symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, and decreased muscle tension may occur, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported. This drug can cause severe skin reactions, including toxic epidermal necrolysis syndrome and Stevens-Johnson syndrome, so if symptoms like fever, skin rash, blisters, itching, eye redness, or stomatitis appear, usage should be immediately stopped, and a doctor's attention should be sought. Symptoms like drowsiness, weakness, or staggering may occur while on this medication, and if these symptoms are severe, the dosage should be reduced or the medication discontinued. It is also advisable to avoid hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery while taking this medication. When taken with other muscle relaxants, it may cause visual disturbances, so caution is advised when combining medications. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women should only use this drug when the benefits outweigh the risks, as the safety of this medication has not been established. Nursing women should avoid taking this medication if possible, and if it is necessary to use it, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Caution is needed as the safety for children has not been sufficiently established and experience with its use is limited. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological function, so caution should be exercised in adjusting the dosage.
