Improvement of blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is particularly administered for individuals who have not previously received diabetes drug therapy or those who do not achieve sufficient effect with monotherapy. This medication may also be added when metformin monotherapy is not effective. Additionally, it is used in situations where blood sugar control is difficult when substituting combination therapy with linagliptin and metformin or when combined with metformin, sulfonylureas, insulin, or empagliflozin. This medication helps improve blood sugar management through various combination therapy options.
The dosage of this medication should be determined based on each patient's treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended dosages of linagliptin 2.5 mg and metformin 1000 mg administered twice daily. This medication is taken twice daily with meals. 1. If not currently on metformin: Start with an initial dose of this medication 2.5/500 mg, taking 1 tablet twice daily.
This medication is used for diabetes treatment and helps in controlling blood sugar levels. This medication should not be administered to patients with poor kidney function or those with certain heart diseases or liver dysfunction. Additionally, it should be avoided in states that can affect kidney function such as acute infection, dehydration, severe trauma, or shock. It is advisable not to use this medication for pregnant or nursing women. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, so when used together with insulin or sulfonylurea drugs, blood sugar levels must be closely monitored. Although rare, serious side effects such as lactic acidosis can occur, so if symptoms like abdominal pain, muscle pain, weakness, or difficulty breathing appear, immediate medical attention should be sought. Regular checks of kidney function and blood tests should be conducted during the course of this medication. Acute pancreatitis or skin blistering conditions may manifest, so if severe abdominal pain or skin changes occur, immediate medical consultation is necessary. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease; therefore, periodic vitamin B12 testing may be required during long-term use. When taken with other medications, interactions may occur, hence all medications being used should be disclosed to the doctor or pharmacist. This medication should be administered cautiously to children or the elderly, particularly elderly patients, where dosage adjustments should be considered due to declining kidney function. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal disorders or lactic acidosis may occur, and immediate treatment in a hospital is required. Store this medication away from children and keep it protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
