How to take

Adult dose

The dosage of this medication is determined based on each patient’s existing therapeutic regimen, efficacy, and tolerability, not exceeding Linagliptin 2.5 mg and Metformin 1000 mg taken twice daily. This medication should be administered twice a day with meals. 1. If previously not treated with Metformin: Start with the initial dose of 2.5/500 mg once daily for two times, with a maximum of 2.5/1000 mg for twice daily.

Precautions

This medication contains Metformin and Linagliptin and is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It can cause a serious side effect called lactic acidosis, so it should not be administered to certain patients. For example, those allergic to its ingredients, those with type 1 diabetes, severe kidney impairment, liver dysfunction, acute infections, or acute myocardial infarction should not use this medication. Additionally, pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication, and attention is needed for patients with poor nutritional status or alcohol dependence. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, especially when taken with sulfonylureas or insulin. If symptoms of too low blood sugar occur, consult a doctor immediately. Patients with reduced kidney function should regularly have kidney function tests before using this medication, and it should not be used if kidney function is severely impaired. Acute pancreatitis or vesicular skin conditions may occur, so if severe abdominal pain or blisters on the skin develop while taking this medication, inform a doctor immediately. B12 deficiency may occur, so it is advisable to periodically check B12 levels during long-term use. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication and it is advisable to consider insulin therapy for blood sugar control. Elderly patients commonly have reduced kidney function, so kidney function should be monitored regularly and appropriate dosage adjustments made. There is insufficient data regarding the effects of this medication on driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed after ingestion. In the case of overdose, serious side effects like lactic acidosis may occur, and immediate medical treatment is necessary, including possible hemodialysis. When storing, keep out of reach of children and avoid moisture, and be careful not to transfer into other containers.
