Treatment of eye inflammation such as blepharitis and conjunctivitis
This medication is used to treat inflammation in various areas, including the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, sclera, and uveal tract. It is also effective in alleviating inflammation that may occur after eye surgery. In other words, it helps improve various eye inflammatory diseases and post-surgical inflammation.
Instill 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day. For the first 1-2 days, it may be used every hour as needed. Adjust dosage as appropriate according to symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with viral eye diseases such as viral keratitis, smallpox, or chickenpox. It should also not be administered if there is a fungal infection in the eye tissue or a mycobacterial infection such as tuberculosis. This medication should not be used in patients with untreated purulent infections, and those who have had allergic reactions to this medication should avoid its use. Patients with corneal epithelium loss or ulceration should not use this medication due to the risk of corneal perforation. Use in patients with glaucoma should be cautious, especially in children, considering the possibility of adrenal suppression with prolonged high doses. Various side effects can occur with this medication, such as skin rash, itching, headache, elevated intraocular pressure, cataracts, and pain or redness in the eye, so caution is necessary. Using this medication on reddened eyes without a doctor's instruction can pose a risk of vision loss, so it must be used only after a professional diagnosis. If used for a long time, regular intraocular pressure checks and lens examinations should be performed, and immediate consultation with a doctor is required if blurring of vision or visual disturbances occur. This medication may worsen corneal disease in patients with a history of herpes simplex, so frequent check-ups are essential. If wearing contact lenses, they should be removed before use, and can only be reinserted at least 15 minutes after instillation. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, use should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Temporary blurriness may occur during instillation, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Special caution is needed if infected with or at risk of chickenpox or measles, and vaccination status should be verified, with immediate medical consultation in case of infection. Long-term use may delay wound healing, and there is also a possibility of pituitary and adrenal function suppression, so caution is required. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, close monitoring for side effects is necessary, especially when used in conjunction with drugs that increase intraocular pressure such as atropine or CYP3A inhibitors. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously, and nursing mothers should consider discontinuing the medication or nursing. Extra care should be taken when administering to children or the elderly, as the risk of side effects may increase due to decreased bodily function in the elderly. In case of overdose, it is recommended to drink water immediately to dilute it and consult a doctor in urgent situations, though this is rare. This medication is for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to avoid contamination by not allowing the tip of the container to touch the eye or any other surface. Additionally, it should not be shared with others, and must be stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight, out of the reach of children. To maintain quality, it is important not to transfer it to another container.
