This medication effectively lowers blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is particularly useful for high-risk patients over 55 years old who cannot use ACE inhibitors, such as those with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, or transient ischemic attacks. Additionally, it improves health by reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases in patients with high-risk diabetes who are suspected of having damage to end-organs. This medication plays an important role in protecting cardiovascular health and overall life, so consistent intake is recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborns, especially during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals with allergies to this medication or its components, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe liver impairment, and those with hereditary angioedema should not use it. Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to the elderly, patients with hyperkalemia, mild to moderate liver impairment, and those with heart diseases; special care is required for patients with poor kidney function. During use, regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and serum potassium levels should be performed to detect any abnormal signs early. While this medication effectively lowers blood pressure, various side effects such as dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, skin rash, and myalgia may occur; if any unusual symptoms arise, consult a healthcare professional immediately. This medication is not removed by dialysis, and there is no specific antidote in case of overdose; suitable treatment should be administered based on the symptoms. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and it should be administered cautiously in the elderly to avoid excessive blood pressure reduction.
