This medication should not be taken by specific patients, including those allergic to the drug or its ingredients, pregnant or nursing women, those with severe liver disease or biliary problems, hereditary angioedema patients, those with severe kidney dysfunction, certain endocrine diseases, and diabetic patients with poor kidney function. Caution is needed for elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, slightly reduced liver function, heart valve disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular disease, or those who are fluid-depleted or sodium-deficient. Regular blood tests to check kidney function and potassium levels are important while taking this medication. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, particularly potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, which may lead to dangerously high potassium levels.
