Treatment of essential hypertension and heart failure (including intolerance to ACE inhibitors), reduction of mortality risk after myocardial infarction.
This medication is used to treat essential hypertension and heart failure. It is particularly effective for heart failure patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of mortality in stable patients with left ventricular dysfunction or heart failure following a myocardial infarction. Thus, it plays an important role in improving the management of cardiovascular diseases.
Essential Hypertension: The recommended initial dose is 80 mg taken orally once daily as valsartan. For patients whose blood pressure is not well controlled, the dose may be increased to 160 mg once daily or a diuretic may be added, with a maximum increase to 320 mg once daily. Elderly patients (75 years and older) should start with 40 mg once daily. For renal impairment patients with a creatinine clearance of 10-20 mL/min, start with 40 mg once daily.
Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients and adolescents under 18 years of age.
