This medication should not be used in certain patients. It should not be taken by patients with allergies to this medication or its components, or with a history of hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema. Patients with orthostatic hypotension may experience worsening symptoms while taking this medication. Patients with severe liver dysfunction should avoid this medication as it may increase drug concentration in the blood. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid it. Patients with severe kidney impairment, elderly patients, and those taking PDE5 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inhibitors, antihypertensives, etc., should use this medication with caution. Patients currently taking alpha-1 blockers should generally avoid this medication but may use it cautiously when absolutely necessary. Patients with a history of urinary syncope should also use this medication carefully. While taking this medication, it is important to closely observe for symptoms such as fainting or loss of consciousness. Neurological side effects may include dizziness, headache, drowsiness, insomnia, and decreased libido. It may affect the circulatory system, leading to increased heart rate or drops in blood pressure. Additionally, if allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or hives occur, immediate discontinuation is necessary. Gastrointestinal side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation. Liver function may deteriorate, so if abnormalities in liver function tests or jaundice occur, discontinuation and consultation with a physician is required. Various other side effects have also been reported, including pharyngeal burning, nasal congestion, edema, gynecomastia, and persistent priapism. Particularly, persistent priapism, if not treated, can lead to permanent erectile dysfunction, so care must be taken. Overdosing on this medication poses a risk of significant drops in blood pressure, so dosages must be strictly adhered to. To prevent dizziness upon standing, movement when changing positions should be done slowly. This medication is a symptomatic treatment, and if there is no improvement, other interventions such as surgery should be considered. Caution is advised when driving or performing dangerous activities at heights, as dizziness may occur. Since symptoms of prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia can be similar, cancer status should be confirmed before taking this medication. Patients with sulfonamide allergies should use this medication with caution. There is a potential for interactions with other antihypertensives, PDE5 inhibitors, certain antibiotics or antifungals, and some psychiatric medications, so especially consult with a doctor or pharmacist about any medications being taken concurrently. It is safest for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as children under 18, to avoid using this medication. Elderly patients should start with lower doses and monitor their conditions, as kidney function may be diminished. This medication should be taken directly from the packaging, and do not chew or open the capsule as it may not be properly absorbed. In particular, oral dissolving forms should be melted on the tongue and swallowed with saliva, and should not be taken without water while lying down.
