This medication is used for painful muscle spasms due to musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, adhesive capsulitis, and low back pain. It is also effective in treating spastic paralysis due to neurological disorders. This includes various central nervous system diseases such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spondylosis, sequelae after surgery or trauma, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and cerebral palsy. This medication helps improve these symptoms and enhances the daily functioning of patients. Therefore, it is used for the relief of muscle rigidity and pain associated with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50 mg of Eperisone Hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Dosage may be appropriately increased or decreased according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients with an allergy to this medication or those with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with genetic disorders that prevent lactose breakdown. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or impaired liver function should use this medication with caution, as liver function may worsen. This medication includes the pigment Yellow No. 4, so patients with an allergic reaction to this component should also be cautious. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur, so patient condition should be carefully monitored during administration. If any abnormal symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Regular testing is necessary as liver function test values may rise or kidney function may become abnormal. Symptoms of hypersensitivity, such as anemia, skin rashes, and itching, may also occur. Since it affects the central nervous system, symptoms such as insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, and limb paralysis may occur, so caution is required. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. It may also affect the urinary system, making it difficult to urinate or causing a feeling of incomplete bladder emptying. Systemically, symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, and decreased muscle tone may occur, so care should be taken. Severe skin conditions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may manifest, so if fever, rash, blisters, eye redness, or stomatitis occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. During the use of this medication, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. If this medication is used in conjunction with similar medications, neurological abnormalities may occur, so consultation with a doctor is necessary. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, so it should be used cautiously only when necessary, and if breastfeeding, administration should be avoided or breastfeeding should be discontinued if possible. The safety in children has not been sufficiently verified, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have reduced physical functions, so dosage adjustments and caution are required.
