How to take

Adult dose

Typically, 2 tablets are administered orally 2 times a day, in the morning and before bedtime, regardless of meals. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: 2 tablets are given 2 times a day or 4 tablets once before bedtime. For patients with duodenal ulcers, taking 4 tablets two times a day in the morning and before bed achieves a higher treatment rate. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease: 2 tablets are administered twice daily or 4 tablets once before bedtime for 8 weeks.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis or those with impaired kidney function. It should also not be administered to patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or its components, acute porphyria, those who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, premature infants, and neonatal patients, as well as those on a potassium-restricted diet. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of hypersensitivity to medication, elderly patients, those with a history of kidney impairment, and patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should use this medication with caution. It may mask symptoms of gastric cancer; therefore, patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged patients who recently developed or changed indigestion symptoms should confirm the absence of malignant diseases before using it. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric or duodenal ulcers need eradication therapy, and caution is required for critically ill patients in intensive care units or those with hypophosphatemia, and those with swallowing difficulties. While taking this medication, severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock may rarely occur, so if symptoms appear, dosing should be stopped immediately and medical staff informed. Administration should also cease if there are signs of hypersensitivity such as skin rash, hives, angioedema, fever, or difficulty breathing. Blood tests may reveal decreased white blood cells or platelets, liver function abnormalities, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.), neurological symptoms (dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, etc.), muscle pain, or skin rashes; these should be discussed with healthcare providers as they arise. This medication should not be taken for long periods, and it is preferable to use the minimum effective dose while closely monitoring treatment progress. Elderly patients or those with chronic pulmonary disease, diabetes, or weakened immunity may be at an increased risk of pneumonia, so caution is advised. Furthermore, if dizziness or drowsiness occurs while taking this medication, avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs; if you are taking other medications, you must inform your healthcare provider, and dose adjustments or discontinuation may be necessary. Caution is particularly needed when used alongside certain anticoagulants, antibiotics, or antiepileptics. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, and its safety and efficacy in children have not been fully established, so it is not recommended for them. This medication may cause false positive results in urine protein tests, so caution is required during testing, and in the case of overdose, appropriate emergency treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage should be sought. Finally, this medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which may promote bacterial overgrowth in the gastrointestinal tract, necessitating eye examinations during prolonged use.
