This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension that is not controlled by either amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil monotherapy. It helps stabilize blood pressure to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases when blood pressure management is difficult. It contributes to safely controlling hypertension and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered once daily, one tablet, regardless of meals, with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning) if possible. The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 milligrams: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 milligrams or olmesartan medoxomil 20 milligrams monotherapy. - 10/20 milligrams: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with olmesartan medoxomil 20 milligrams.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if administered to women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be administered to patients allergic to the main ingredients or related substances, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, or patients with severe heart valve disease. In patients with deficiencies in body fluids or salts, administering this medication may lead to excessively low blood pressure, requiring careful monitoring of the condition and appropriate treatment if necessary. Possible side effects include dizziness, headaches, low blood pressure, edema, dyspepsia, and skin rashes, so if abnormal symptoms persist, consult a physician. Particularly, patients experiencing sudden drops in blood pressure or with heart problems must use caution while taking this medication, and blood pressure and kidney function should be monitored regularly during treatment. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs or specific medications, so inform healthcare providers about any other medications being taken. If planning to become pregnant or if currently pregnant, it is recommended to switch to a safer alternative medication for the fetus instead of this drug. During breastfeeding, as this medication can be passed into breast milk affecting the baby, breastfeeding or medication should be discontinued. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may have decreased liver, kidney, and heart function; therefore, they should start with low doses and be monitored closely for adverse reactions. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure and cardiac arrhythmias may occur, requiring immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. Store this medication in a tightly closed container, away from moisture and heat, and do not transfer it to another container for safety.

  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy → liver dysfunction (jaundice)
  • Sudden and very severe headaches, thunderclap headaches.
