Precautions

This drug is used as a local anesthetic and may cause a serious blood disorder known as methemoglobinemia, so caution is necessary. Particularly, patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, congenital methemoglobinemia, cardiac or pulmonary impairment, infants under 6 months old, and those using oxidants should be monitored more closely. If cyanosis or abnormal blood discoloration occurs on the skin while using this drug, administration should be stopped immediately and treatment should be sought. This drug should not be used on areas with hypersensitivity to the ingredients, wounds, mucous membranes, contact dermatitis, or atopic dermatitis. It should be avoided in infants under 3 months of age or in infants under 12 months who are taking certain medications, as well as in premature infants. Use cautiously in patients with anemia, liver disease, the elderly, or frail patients, and it is advisable to reduce the application time in patients with atopic dermatitis. Temporary local reactions such as redness, swelling, itching, or burning may occur, and rarely severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis may occur. It should not be used on the eyes or middle ear, and if it comes into contact with the eyes, they should be washed immediately with clean water. Overdosage may affect the central nervous system and cardiovascular system, so treatment should be started immediately if symptoms arise, and monitoring should continue for several hours. This drug may increase the risk of toxicity when used with other local anesthetics or certain medications, so caution is advised when combining. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should only use this drug when the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should be cautious as some ingredients may be excreted in breast milk. It should be used restrictively in children, especially infants under 3 months, and it is safer not to apply it to the genital mucosa. When using this drug, the recommended dosage and application time should be adhered to, and medical consultation should be sought immediately in case of adverse reactions or toxic symptoms.
