Precautions

This drug contains the ingredients metformin and linagliptin and is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It can cause a serious side effect known as lactic acidosis, so it should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or certain acute illnesses. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients or those with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or severe liver dysfunction should also avoid this medication. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so careful monitoring of blood sugar changes is necessary, especially when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas. Elderly patients or those with kidney conditions should undergo regular kidney function tests before taking this medication. Rare side effects such as acute pancreatitis or vesicular skin diseases may occur, and if persistent and severe abdominal pain or skin abnormality symptoms arise during use, the patient should consult a doctor immediately. This drug is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and those planning to become pregnant should discuss it with their doctor. It is advisable to avoid alcohol while taking this medication, and caution is needed when used with other drugs that may affect kidney function. It can be taken with or without meals, but to help prevent gastrointestinal disturbances, it may be beneficial to take it during or after meals. In case of overdose, the risk of lactic acidosis increases, and immediate medical treatment should be sought, as general gastrointestinal lavage or dialysis might be necessary. For child safety, this drug should be kept out of reach of children and stored in a dry place.
