How to take

Adult dose

The dosage of this medication should be determined based on the maximum recommended doses of each ingredient, which are linagliptin 2.5 mg and metformin 1000 mg, not exceeding twice daily. This medication is administered orally twice a day with meals. 1. If currently not treated with metformin: Take this medication 2.5/500 mg, 1 tablet twice daily.

Precautions

This medication helps control blood sugar levels and is used primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. This drug may cause a serious side effect called lactic acidosis in some patients; therefore, it should not be used by individuals with impaired kidney function or certain health conditions. Additionally, individuals who have an allergy to any of the components in this medication, those with type 1 diabetes, acute heart disease, liver dysfunction, heart failure, pregnant women, etc., should avoid its use. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so one must closely monitor blood sugar levels when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas. Hypoglycemia may also occur if there is insufficient caloric intake or excessive exercise. Patients with diminished kidney function should undergo regular kidney function tests before using this medication, and should temporary stop using it if acute kidney injury is suspected. Acute pancreatitis or dermatosis with blistering may occur; therefore, if severe abdominal pain or skin abnormalities occur during use, consult a doctor immediately. This medication may lower vitamin B12 levels, so it is advisable to regularly check blood levels of vitamin B12 during long-term use. Furthermore, alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so it is safer to avoid alcohol. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication. In elderly patients, decreased kidney function is common, so treatment should begin at the lowest doses, with regular assessments of kidney function. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications, especially those that may affect kidney function. If you are receiving iodine-based contrast for surgery or radiographic examination, this medication should be temporarily discontinued, and resumed only after kidney function stabilizes. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms or lactic acidosis may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
