This medication effectively aids in blood sugar control for patients with type 2 diabetes when used in conjunction with meal and exercise therapy, combining Linagliptin and Metformin. Patients will be able to improve blood sugar levels while taking this medication, which will be a significant support for diabetes management.
The dosage of this medication should not exceed the maximum recommended dosages of Linagliptin 2.5 mg and Metformin 1000 mg taken twice daily, and should be determined based on each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerance. This medication is administered twice a day with meals. 1. If not currently being treated with Metformin: The initial dose of this medication is 2.5/500 mg taken twice daily, with one tablet per dose.
This medication may cause a very serious side effect known as lactic acidosis, therefore it should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or liver dysfunction. Additionally, patients with allergies to the active ingredient or components of this medication, type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe heart disease, acute infections, or dehydration should not use it. This medication is also not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. As this medication may induce hypoglycemia, caution is required when used with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, and immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary if hypoglycemic symptoms occur. If there is a suspicion of reduced kidney function or acute kidney damage, or in cases of severe infections or shock, the use of this medication should be temporarily discontinued. Rare side effects such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid may occur, so if severe abdominal pain or skin abnormalities appear, it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare specialist. This medication may lower vitamin B12 levels, thus regular testing for vitamin B12 deficiency is necessary for prolonged use. When using iodine contrast agents for radiological examinations, this medication should be discontinued before and after the test, and kidney function must be checked. Elderly individuals are at higher risk of decreased kidney function, so regular kidney function checks should be performed, and dosage adjustments made if necessary. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so if taking other medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Overdose may lead to serious side effects such as lactic acidosis, which requires immediate hospital treatment. It should be stored out of reach of children, in a place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
