Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive reflux esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, maintenance therapy to prevent gastric ulcer rebleeding.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also effective in relieving symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It helps in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori and prevention of recurrence in patients with duodenal ulcers or peptic ulcers as part of an antibiotic combination therapy. It is effective in treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms associated with the use of NSAIDs and in treating and preventing gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by NSAID administration. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and as a maintenance therapy after intravenous induction to prevent rebleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers. This drug is widely used for the relief of symptoms and prevention of recurrence in gastrointestinal diseases, as well as for ulcer treatment.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids like water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If not treated or symptoms persist, continue for an additional 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence: administer 20 mg once daily. - Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: administer once daily, 20 mg.
For adolescents aged 12 and older - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If not treated or symptoms persist, continue for an additional 4 weeks. - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or any of its components, or who have a history of hypersensitivity to benzimidazoles, patients with hypersensitivity to certain antibiotics, patients currently taking specific cardiac-related medications, patients with a history of myocardial infarction, and nursing mothers should not use this medication. Additionally, this medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 4 (Tartrazine), and patients who are allergic to or have hypersensitivity to this component should use it cautiously. Many side effects may occur when using this medication, so caution is necessary. For instance, blood abnormalities, hypersensitivity reactions, electrolyte imbalances, neurological symptoms, digestive issues, liver function abnormalities, skin reactions, muscle weakness, kidney issues have been reported. Rare but serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, among others, may also occur, so immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary if symptoms appear. This medication may mask symptoms of malignant tumors; therefore, if symptoms such as weight loss, recurrent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, hematemesis, and melena occur, malignancy must be confirmed before use. Regular examinations are necessary for long-term use, and it is important to consult a doctor if there are changes in symptoms. This medication can interact with other drugs, so special caution is required when taken with antibiotics, antiviral drugs, anticoagulants, and immunosuppressants. Patients must inform their doctors or pharmacists of all medications currently being taken, and appropriate monitoring is necessary during concomitant administration. Data on the safety of this medication during pregnancy are limited; therefore, it should be used cautiously in pregnant women, and nursing mothers are advised to avoid its use. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so immediate hospitalization for appropriate treatment is necessary, and this medication is not removed by dialysis. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container can lead to accidents or degradation of quality, so caution is advised.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction, shock, severe allergic reactions, severe edema, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, DRESS syndrome, and other severe dermatological reactions; difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory problems accompanied by cough and fever; yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice).

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid contact with air or moisture. It is recommended to store it at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius.
